7 Fall Getaway Ideas

7 Fall Getaway Ideas

Columbus Airport Parking

It may be a little late to plan a Labor Day getaway, but it’s not too early to plan a fall vacation! At our Columbus Airport parking company, we think fall is one of the best seasons for traveling. Not only are temperatures cooler, but flight prices tend to drop in October and November and you can often save some extra money on hotels and attractions.

If you’re not sure where to go, we have a few suggestions:

Quebec, Canada

One of the best parts of fall is when the leaves change color. Head to Quebec and you’ll find beautiful shades of yellow, orange, red, and purple among the province’s birch trees, maple trees, aspens, and more. For the best views, head to the Lauretian Mountains or Eastern Townships; their colorful painted landscapes are popular destinations among locals.

When people think of fall festivals, many think of the iconic Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. This year, the festival runs September 22nd-October 7th and while it’s known for its beer, visitors can also enjoy a huge parade, locally-made jewelry, live performances, rides, and much more. If Munich is a bit far, check out the just-as-exciting American versions in San Francisco, Milwaukee, Tulsa, or Las Vegas.

Paris, France

Paris’s high season is during the summer, so planning a fall trip to the romantic French city is a great idea. You’ll find fewer tourists, cooler temperatures, and lower prices on airfare and hotels. Plus, gardens and parks (like Versailles and Palais-Royal) are filled with color and you’ll be able to score an outdoor table at your favorite cafe.

Dia de Los Muertos

Do you love Halloween? This year, our Columbus Airport parking company urges you to experience something even better in Oaxaca, Mexico – Dia de los Muertos. The Spanish holiday takes place October 31st-November 2nd and honors deceased loved ones with a variety of cultural traditions. You’ll find colorful markets, artful altars, sand tapestries, candle-lit cemeteries, and a parade with vibrant costumes, music, and dancing.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

For a taste of nature, plan a trip to Jackson Hole. Located at the foot of the Grand Teton Mountains, the quaint, charming town gives you access to Grand Teton National Park and National Elk Refuge. And with a variety of mom-and-pop shops and cafes as well as whimsically rustic hotels, you’ll fully enjoy being nestled into the mountains as the temperatures fall.

Sydney, Australia

If you like the spring season more than fall, head down to the Southern Hemisphere where the seasons are opposite. In Sydney, you can enjoy blossoming flowers (especially at the Royal Botanic Garden), warm temperatures, and friendly locals. Make sure you also check out the area’s other iconic attractions, like the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House, and Bondi Beach.

Denver, Colorado

The Rocky Mountains are a great place to be in the fall and because Denver is just a few miles away, you can easily take a day trip to explore the beautiful mountain foliage. When you’re back in the city, stroll up and down the 16th Street Mall, visit the Denver Art Museum, or even take a brewery tour at Great Divide, Renegade, or Wynkoop.

When you decide where you want to go this fall, try to avoid making your plans around Thanksgiving, as you’ll see higher flight and lodging prices. Book before or after the holiday to get the best deals and don’t forget to make your Columbus Airport parking reservation with OhPark!
